Objective: This study aimed to explore the role of acupoint magnetic patches in promoting the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients after gastrointestinal surgery. Methods: A total of 92 patients who underwent gastrointestinal surgery in our hospital from May 2024 to June 2025 were selected and divided into groups using a random number table. The control group (n=46) received routine nursing intervention, while the observation group (n=46) received additional acupoint magnetic patch intervention on the basis of routine nursing. The effects of nursing intervention, post-operative recovery process of gastrointestinal tract, and the improvement of post-operative gastrointestinal function were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (86.67% vs 55.00%, P<0.05). The recovery time of bowel sounds (25.38±3.02)h, exhaust time (32.35±2.74 )h, and defecation time (86.24±5.46 h) in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group (all P<0.05). The total incidence of post-operative gastrointestinal adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (10.00% vs 28.33%, P<0.05), and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion: Acupoint magnetic 8 patch intervention can effectively promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients after gastrointestinal surgery with high safety, which is worthy of promotion and application in clinical practice.
