Abstract

Objective: To investigate the awareness rate of stroke rehabilitation among primary medical staff in township health system in Weining County and the development of community-based rehabilitation of stroke. Methods: Primary health workers from 41 township health systems in Weining County were selected as the survey subjects. On-site questionnaire survey was used to collect the awareness rate of stroke rehabilitation and the development of community rehabilitation of stroke among primary health workers. Results: A total of 867 questionnaires were distributed and 848 valid questionnaires were collected. None of the 41 towns in Weining County carried out modern rehabilitation treatment for stroke. 81.37% of the respondents did not understand the “three-level rehabilitation network for stroke”, and 1.77% believed that rehabilitation treatment was not necessary after stroke. 10.85% of the respondents had received stroke patients, and 44.57% of them had not received any modern rehabilitation treatment. 51.09% thought that patients did not receive rehabilitation treatment because there was no corresponding modern rehabilitation training in the community. Conclusion: Community-based stroke rehabilitation in Weining remains underdeveloped, with low uptake of modern rehabilitation services among stroke patients. These challenges are likely attributable to inadequate financial and human resource investment in community rehabilitation infrastructure, as well as insufficient public and professional education regarding the importance of rehabilitation.
